Claude connector

Clip a podcast without leaving Claude.

Add Highstyle to Claude once, sign in, and then just ask. Claude sends the video to Highstyle, waits while it renders, and hands back ranked vertical clips with captions burned in. No API key, no client ID, no secret.

A Claude account, on any plan

Custom connectors work on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. A free Claude account can hold one custom connector, which is enough for this.

A Highstyle account

You sign in to it during step 3. Reading your projects works on any plan; running a new clip job needs a paid plan, and Claude will say so plainly if you are not on one.

Two minutes

Setup is four steps and you only do it once. The connection stays until you remove it.

01/Open Connectors in Claude

In Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors. On Team or Enterprise a member cannot add one alone: an Owner adds it first under Organization settings > Connectors > Add > Custom > Web, and it then appears here for everyone to connect.

Customize > Connectors
02/Add a custom connector

Click the + button, then Add custom connector. Give it a name so you can recognise it in the list, and paste the Highstyle URL into the second field. Leave Advanced settings alone: Highstyle needs no client ID and no secret, because Claude registers itself. Then click Continue.

03/Sign in to Highstyle

Claude sends you straight to Highstyle. The page names the app asking for access, the workspace it will draw minutes from, and what it is allowed to do. Approve it once and Claude comes back holding a token tied to your account. Claude never sees your password.

04/Ask for clips

That is the whole setup. Paste a YouTube URL and say what you want. Claude picks the right tools on its own, waits out the render rather than making you check back, and returns clips ranked best first with timestamps, a download link and a share page.

Then it is just conversation
05/Things to say once it is connected
  • Clip this into 5 shorts and give me the best one: <YouTube URL>
  • Same video, but use the clean caption style and no music
  • How many minutes do I have left?
  • Show me the top clip from that run
  • What caption styles can I choose from?

A run takes a few minutes because the whole video is transcribed and analysed before anything is cut. Claude is told to wait rather than poll in a loop, so it holds the turn and comes back with the finished clips.

06/What Claude can actually do

You never name these. Claude reads what each one does and picks. They are listed so you know the edges of what it can reach, and which one spends money.

submit_clip_jobStarts a run from a YouTube URL. The only tool that spends minutes.
wait_for_clipsWaits for a run to finish. Bounded, so it cannot hang the conversation.
get_project_statusProgress on a run, then its ranked clips once it is done.
list_projectsYour recent runs, clip counts, and the minutes left on your plan.
list_clip_optionsEvery caption style, layout and clip length, so Claude uses real values.
preview_clipPuts one clip in the conversation as a still frame, with its links.
07/What it costs

Nothing extra. Minutes come out of the same plan balance the web app spends, and there are no separate connector or API fees. A run holds up to 60 minutes up front and then charges the video's real length when it finishes, refunding the difference. If a job fails you are refunded in full.

Prices are on the pricing page, and the REST API is documented at /developers.

08/If something goes wrong
It never asked me to sign in

Then it is not connected to your account yet. Remove the connector and add it again: Highstyle refuses every request without a credential, so Claude runs the sign-in while adding it. If you are still not prompted, you are probably looking at a connector added before this changed.

Claude says I need to upgrade

Reading works on every plan, but starting a run needs a paid one. This is a plan limit rather than a broken connection, so reconnecting will not clear it.

It says I am out of minutes

Same idea: the connection is fine and the balance is not. Top up and ask again in the same conversation.

I want to disconnect it

Remove it in Claude, or open your Connections page in Highstyle and disconnect there. Disconnecting deletes the tokens rather than flagging them, so it takes effect on the very next request.
